Sometimes, a medical intervention is needed to keep a birthing person or their baby safe during childbirth. Learning about these medical interventions during pregnancy can help you feel empowered if one is required during your birth process. In this class, you’ll learn about the purpose, benefits, and risks of medical interventions and how to make informed decisions about your birth.

Feel free to bring a partner or support person so they will feel more confident and prepared to provide support throughout the birth process.

Topics covered include:

  • informed choice and how to make informed decisions
  • routine medical interventions
  • unique medical interventions (induction, augmentation, vacuum/forceps, episiotomy, cesarean birth)
  • strengthening your relationship with your healthcare provider
  • birth plans and other communication tools

Because each group of participants is unique and brings their own lived experience, the class is adaptable to your questions.
