Pregnancy Outreach Programs, also knowns as "POPs", use strength-based and harm reduction approaches to support pregnant, postpartum and newly parenting people who may face challenges and barriers to health. POPs aim to:
Improve nutrition through food security initiatives, vitamin and mineral supplementation
Connect pregnant, postpartum and parenting people with medical and health services, prenatal care and education
Ensure participants have access to appropriate family planning and contraception
Support participants to access counselling services for mental health issues, alcohol and drug dependency and addiction
Promote and support breastfeeding/chestfeeding, as well as infant feeding best practices
Assist participants to secure a stable, safe living environment where parents, babies and children can thrive
Navigate systems and follow through on obligations in regard to child protection, family and criminal law
Support parent-child attachment and development of early parenting skills
Reduce social isolation by fostering social peer supports
The Pregnancy HUB is here to support you throughout your pregnancy, postpartum or newly parenting journey. You can find a local POP by using our self-serve HUB Directory.
